General Township Issues
An ad had been placed the local newspapers seeking a replacement for Fred Lemke who has retired from the Planning and Zoning Board. No letters of interest had been received. Boni had made some phone calls to persons that she thought may be interested. Lois (Schroeder) Lieser said that she would be willing to serve on the P and Z Board. The board did not decide on that.
Mike Behnen asked if the Planning and Zoning Board was necessary. He proposed that the town board take care of permits and variances instead. It would be a savings for the township and most of the time the P and Z board is meeting for little or no reason. The supervisors decided to leave things as they are.
Boni said that she would like to be done with the town hall rental position by April 1. The board will be looking for a replacement.
Matt Burg is the P and Z chair and on the town board. He would normally be paid to attend the monthly meetings in both capacities. It was decided to pay him only for his attendance as a member of the town board.
A motion to appoint the following people to serve as election judges for the March Township Election was made by Gertken, second by Burg. Carried 3-0.
Head Judge – Max Weisman (City of Richmond)
Election Judges – Carin Schroeder, Rita Schroeder and Linda Theisen (Farming Township)
A motion to appoint Carin and Rita Schroeder to the Absentee Ballot Board, was made by Gertken, second by Burg. Carried 3-0.
Boni asked for permission to buy a new laptop computer for the township. The one that she has is no longer working properly. The two printers at the town hall are old and not working well. The board made a motion to allow Boni to purchase new equipment to replace the non-working computer and printers. Motion Burg, second Gertken. Carried 3-0.
Burg said that he is still not receiving the sheriff’s weekly newsletter by email. Boni will contact them again.
Boni had received paperwork from the Environmental Services Department at the county concerning an easement for the Bunker Hills development. It was decided to wait and see what was needed from the township.
Burg would like to clean brush on 210th Street, weather permitting.
A motion to pay bills, was made by Burg, seconded by Gertken. Carried 3-0. Bills were paid in the amount of $35,884.38 using check numbers 6415-6427.
At 8:50, a motion to adjourn was made by Burg, second by Gertken. Carried 3-0.
